The aim of this blog used to be meant to store some of my students productions in English from 2007 onwards.Besides, there are some of the activities we do in our English lessons.
F. Scott Fitzgerald wanted to write something new, beautiful, patterned.
The novel expresses THE AMERICAN DREAM (anyone can win success and wealth by his own efforts. It doesn't mind if he's poor or not) . Gatsby wants to get money, but also love. However, he can only get this love by means of money.
Fitzgerald's own experiences appear in his novels:
NY LIFE IN THE 1920s parties, bright lights, heavy drinking, jazz music, time to make money and have fun (The Roaring Twenties)
THE AGE OF PROHIBITION
- The law forbade the selling and drinking of alcohol. However, people could buy it illegally from bootleggers.
- There's a lot of drinking in the book. However, Gatsby and Daisy don't drink.
Read about he author, the roaring twenties, the American dream and the book and write an essay following the guidelines below:
- INTRODUCTION: Present the book ( reason for reading, author & society)
- BODY: Summarize the book briefly and provide examples of the roaring twenties.
- CONCLUSION: Tell about your opinion the book (justify it) and compare in case you've watched it.
TASK 2: SPEAKING TASK (10 % global mark) Due to January the 18th - 21st 2021
These are some of the quotes said by F.S Fitzgerald. Choose the one you liked the most and prepare 1 minute speaking in class.

This video was shot in 2007 when technology was already popular in our society. Some students complain about their teachers who are still teaching in the 19th century style.
Watch the video and answer the questions provided in your WS.
If you feel like reading more on this subject, you've got an interesting Further reading article you can use to prepare your SP task.

MIKE: This is one of the saddest songs I know for
me. For me the songs about someone who's been broken up with, left alone. He
still loves the person who left him and I think that's half the reason this
song is so sad, he's almost begging for them to stay with him and yet he tries
to be strong by not talking about it. Beautifully sad, this song makes me cry.
MARY: I've sang this in high school during a
recital-- and this is not an easy song to sing, especially when not long before
that your then-very-good-friend decide to start fighting you over a common
female friend.
JULIETTE: A beautiful mixture of strength and
vulnerability. He's defiant and doesn't want to talk about how badly he's hurt
but at the same time can't help making a plea that things might be different.
RACHEL: the most disappointed moment in my life
when u broke my heart..... I lost faith in all human so much so that i believe
no expectations will lead to no disappointments... and once in awhile a song
like this will set my heart bleeding once more....
What about you? What's your own interpretation on the song?
That's chance to practise your Listening skills and learning about the present and local news. You've got a short and a long version.

It is said that life is a matter of goals achievements. Some of them are pretty easy but others require a bit of effort.

Write your opinion regarding to LIFE GOALS.
The NY Road Runners, the founders of the NYC Marathon, sent an email out to the runners of the 2011 NYC Marathon asking a simple question: What motivates you to run? I initially replied in an email but then decided that it might make more sense in my case, to respond with a video as well. This is my response.
I will apologize in advance for the beginning video footage of me but I can now post it as it is now in my past. It is my sincere hope that others may see the condition that I was in and be inspired to change their own life. Even if you are not overweight, it is important that you always have goals in front of you and strive to make the world a better place for you and everyone else on this planet. :)
